View and manage holds

Holds allow you to place a job on hold for an indefinite amount of time due to insufficient funding, technical problems, missing data, lack of resources, and so on. Holds prevent a job's steps from being run while the hold is active.

  1. Access the Workflow Manager web app.
  2. Choose the job for which you want to view holds on the Manage or Work page.
  3. Expand the Details panel if necessary.
  4. Click the Holds tab Holds.
    Note:

If you don’t have sufficient privileges, you won’t see the Holds tab.

The job's hold information appears in the Details panel.

Add a hold

  2. Choose the job that contains the hold you want to release on the Manage or Work page.
    Tip:

You can also release a hold for a job that is set to run on a schedule and manually run the step before the scheduled run date.

  3. Expand the Details panel if necessary.
  4. Click the Holds tab Holds.
    Note:

The Holds tab won't appear if you don’t have sufficient privileges.

  5. In the Holds section, hover over the step that contains the hold and click the Release Hold button Release Hold.

If you don’t have sufficient privileges, you won’t see the Release Hold button Release Hold.

    The Release dialog box appears.

    Tip:

You can type a keyword in the Search Holds text box to filter the list to holds and dependencies that contain the keyword. You can also switch between active and released holds and dependencies by clicking Active Holds or Released Holds.

  6. Click Release to release the hold.

A confirmation message appears and the hold is removed from the job.

    Note:

Releasing a hold for a step that is configured to automatically run on a schedule requires the step to be started manually.
